Welcome to the Preschool Program!

The Junior Room program at Cobourg Day Care Inc. offers a maximum of 16 full time Nursery School spaces to children from 2.5 to 5 years.

Every child in the Junior Room has a cubby for coats, hats, etc. We ask that you please keep a change of cloths and/or diapers if needed.
Our Center opens at 6:30am and children who arrive before 8:45 will start their day in the Senior Room. A snack will be provided.

Preschool: Junior Room Goals

By the time the children move up to the Senior Room we hope that they are able to:

	go to the washroom unassisted
	rest on bed at sleep time
	use utensils at lunch
	put own shoes on
	get dressed and undressed alone
	recognize own name and recite letters
	match primary colours
	count to five
	recognize and name circles and squares
	sit through Circle
	take turns
	be kind to peers

We plan stimulation experiences in a warm and secure setting that fosters the growth of each child as an individual. The group supports and stimulates each other in a family-like atmosphere of caring and sharing.

Junior Room Daily Schedule

6:30am - 8:30am	Free play in the Senior Room.
7:30am - 8:30am	Snack time; children are able to have snack at the table if they wish or continue playing.
8:30am	Juniors move to their room.
8:45am	Free play and Creative.
10:00am	Get dressed to go outside, weather permitting. Coats, hats, snow pants, mitts and boots required in winter weather. No scarves or stringed mittens permitted. In the summer the teachers put sunscreen on the children and hats are required.
10:30am	Outside play
11:15am	Time to come in from outside, get their outdoor things off and get their hands washed for lunch.
11:30am	Lunch time
12:00pm	Washroom time
12:30pm -2:30pm	Sleep time
2:30pm	Wake up and Snack time
3:00pm	Circle as explained in the morning program. Songs and stories and discussion sometimes pertaining to theme but not always, we often play fun games.
3:30pm	Get ready to go outside. Outside play with the Senior Room.
6:00pm	Centre closes

Preschool: Senior Room Goals

By the time the children move up to the JK/SK Room we hope that they are able to:

	recognize their name and recite letters back
	recognize and name letters, colours, shapes and numbers
	begin to print their own name with assistance
	follow simple directions
	take turns
	be kind to friends
	engage in cooperative play
	put own shoes on
	get dressed and undressed alone
	put their belongings in their own cubby
	use the washroom on their own without reminders
	sit quietly on beds and look at books before rest

7:30am	Snack time
7:45am - 8:00am	Children from the JK/SK and SA rooms go to their own rooms with teachers as they come in.
8:00am - 8:30am	Juniors and Seniors continue to play and finish snack.
8:30am	Junior Room children go to thier own room while Senior Room children continue to play.
9:00am - 9:50am	Free play and Creative.
9:50am	Tidy and Circle time.
10:00am - 10:30am	Circle.
10:30am - 11:20am	Juniors and Seniors go outside to play.
11:20am	Come in from outside, get undressed and get their hands washed for lunch
11:30am - 12:00pm	Lunch time
12:00pm - 12:30pm	Washroom time
12:30pm - 2:30pm	Sleep time.
2:30pm	Wake up and Snack time
3:00pm - 3:20pm	Circle
3:20pm - 4:30pm	Outdoor play
4:30pm - 6:00pm	Freeplay and as numbers go down children are moved in the JK/SK room and then the SA Room.
6:00pm	Center Closes
