Infant Program Goals
By the time a child is ready to move up to the Toddler Room, we hope to assist them with the following:
Having a healthy relationship with the care givers |
Encourage appropriate sleep patterns |
Sleep on a cot by 15 months (as approved by parent) |
Encourage walking skills |
Introduce Circle |
Foster independent eating using spoons and sips cups |
Be on a regular eating schedule of 2 snacks and a midday meal |
Introduce sitting on chairs for lunch |
Encourage parents and staff to work in unison |
Promote family-like atmosphere |
We plan stimulation experiences in a warm and secure setting that fosters the growth of each child as an individual. The group supports and stimulates each other in a family-like atmosphere of caring and sharing.
The staff of the Infant Room request that each parent provide for his/her child the following:
2 to 3 complete changes of labeled clothing. (Seasonal) |
An ongoing supply of diapers. (The staff will notify parents when more diapers are needed) |
Special ointments, creams or wipes for diaper rashes. |
A daily supply of prepared formula or milk (bottled) if required. Also, any pablum or pureed food. (All bottles and food brought in, including bottle lids and caps must be labeled with your child's name. No glass bottles please.) |
1 pacifier if used, to stay at the Centre. |
A blanket or special toy for sleep if needed. |
A sunhat and sunscreen. |
The Centre will provide:
Sip cups, spoons, bowls |
Bibs |
Sheets and Bumber pads |
Blankets |
T.L.C. (Tender Loving Care) |
The Centre will be responsible for laundering the children’s bedding on a bi-weekly basis, or as needed. Other personal article of clothing that become soiled will be placed in a plastic bag to be taken home each evening by parents.
*All personal items from home should be labeled with the child’s name to minimize loss.
Every morning the parents will be asked to complete a daily report form outlining the child’s sleep, personal health and his/her general mood for the day. This will enable staff to respond to the daily needs of each child. The staff, in turn will complete a daily report outlining the child’s activities and behaviour for that day. The staff of the infant room also requests that parents allow a brief period after arrival and prior to departure to complete and discuss this information form.

Home time |
The above time table is only an approximation. It is intended to keep the babies on their own timetable whenever possible. This means that babies could be eating, sleeping or engaging in activates outside the written times.
Please note that all children in the infant room go on the morning walk. We are required by the ministry to have one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon of outdoor time, weather permitting. The walks are conducted in the surrounding neighborhood.
