Who We Are and What We Do:
Cobourg Day Care Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization, governed by a Board of Directors comprised of Community and Parent Volunteers. Our purpose is to provide quality care for children from birth to twelve years of age in a secure, loving and positive environment. The care is provided by professional staff working together within the guidelines of the Day Nurseries Act. With the assistance and cooperation of The Northumberland Child Development Centre we are able to bring new elements into our programs in order to meet the requirements of children and families with special needs. Cobourg Day Care Inc. provides care for children within stimulating programs that are staffed and equipped for each age range as well as individual needs.
History
Cobourg Day Care Inc. opened its doors at 359 Division Street in a renovated house on November 15, 1983. This venture was partially funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services with the remaining funds loaned by the Town of Cobourg. At that time, five staff members provided child care to thirty-one children, ranging in age from two and a half to five years of age.
As the Town of Cobourg grew, so did the need for quality child care. As a result, in 1988, application was made with the Ministry of Community and Social Services for the expansion of the Centre’s facilities. Our specially designed facilities at 325 Alexander Drive are the result of two long years of planning and effort on the part of Laurel Anderson, our Executive Director, staff and the Board of Directors. Our present Centre opened on January 15, 1990 and is licensed to provide child care services to 117 children, ranging from infants to school-age children. In 1993 we added a Nursery School component to our Centre. In addition to caring for all ages of children, we also care for special need’s children.
Although our Centre has grown larger, we strive to maintain the warmth and caring our Centre was founded on.

Child Care Policies
